Im Dan, a software engineer based out of Wellington, New Zealand. I have been architecting, building and maintaining various projects for the last 15 years.

I got my start in the 3DFX and games industry after studying in wellington in my early 20s.

I ended up working at Weta digital for the better part of 3 years, working on various feature length films such as the Hobbit, Iron man 2 and Planet of the apes.

During my stint as a visual effect artist, I feel in love with coding and problem solving, I always seemed to get the big the bad and the ugly problems when assigned work.

After the birth of my son Eli, I decided I needed a change of pace and started working for a small Wellington based agency called Signify, where I helped build large government and corporate based websites, applications and some large data migration projects.

I am now a tech lead at Octave, an agency here in Wellington.

My day to day job requires me to plan, build and maintain various apps and websites for a variety of clients. Mostly python based backends with react/nextjs frontends.

Ill bloging about some of the techincal solutions I come across during my adventures and showcasing some of my more complex work.2
